Pemerintah Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) didesak untuk memberikan perhatian khusus pada energi baru terbarukan (EBT) dalam program Sumba sebagai Pulau Ikonik Program Energi Terbarukan (Sumba Iconic Island/SII) di Pulau Sumba. Anggota Komisi IV DPRD NTT Noviyanto Umbu Pati, kemarin, mengatakan keberadaan program SII dengan mengembangkan EBT di Sumba dapat membantu masyarakat di Pulau Sumba, khususnya di daerah terisolasi, untuk bisa mendapatkan penerangan.
Dia mengungkapkan masalah energi selalu dikeluhkan masyarakat di NTT jika dirinya bersama sejumlah anggota dewan lainnya berkunjung ke sejumlah daerah di NTT. “Masyarakat selalu mengeluh, Pak Dewan kok sudah 71 tahun merdeka, listrik di daerah kami belum ada juga,” kata Noviyanto. Untuk itu, dia berharap masalah perizinan tidak menjadi kendala jika ada investor yang akan berinvestasi di Pulau Sumba.
