On 18 December 2015, Hivos signed an agreement with Millennium Challenge Account – Indonesia (MCA-I) to support the improvement access to renewable energy through TERANG, in which this project is a combination of Hivos’ two main programs that are Biogas Rumah (BIRU) and Sumba Iconic Island (SII). TERANG project is implemented by consortium team consisting of Hivos, Village Infrastructure Angel (VIA), Yayasan Rumah Energi (YRE), and Winrock International.
In 2017, TERANG has successfully provided access to renewable energy for 26 districts spread in East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, and South Sulawesi. Based on the success of TERANG Project, Hivos has initiated a learning event to increase the synergies between government, private sectors, and NGOs in improving access to renewable energy.
